Main areas:

• study of reproductive processes and ontogenesis of the population of Eastern Siberia;
• study of the functioning of the biological system mother - extraembryonic organs - fetus;
• study of the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying the infertility of couples;
• study of ethnic characteristics of metabolic processes in patients with diabetes mellitus.

A new direction, ethnic reproductology, is substantiated and ethnic characteristics of metabolic processes in women (including pregnant women) and children of the Russian and Buryat populations living in Eastern Siberia are established.

Scientific school on ethnic and population factors in shaping public health

Main directions:

• identification of molecular-genetic and systemic mechanisms of regulation and compensation of various physiological systems in normal and pathological conditions in populations of Siberia, their role in susceptibility to complex diseases under the environmental factors of Siberia in order to develop effective methods of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation;

• development of new technologies for early diagnosis and treatment, aimed at restoring reproductive function, preventing pregnancy complications and perinatal losses, taking into account regional and ethnic characteristics of the pathological process in modern Siberian conditions, setting up a comprehensive program for assessing the risk of reproductive disorders in the indigenous people and those, who came to Siberia from other regions;

• development of the pharmacogenomic foundations of a personalized approach to the diagnosis and treatment of common noncommunicable diseases among the indigenous and non-indigenous population of Siberia.

Scientific school of psychosomatic pathology of childhood and adolescence

Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Dzyatkovskaya Elena Nikolaevna formulated the theory of information stress among schoolchildren, which formed the basis of the regional program Health and Education. Based on this concept, the Council on Health-saving Technologies under the State Duma of the Russian Federation was organized.

• development and implementation of effective methods for early diagnosis and prediction of reproductive disorders;

• development and evaluation of the effectiveness of innovative methods of restoration and preservation of reproductive function.

Scientific school on the evolution of the epidemic process in modern conditions

Savilov Evgeny Dmitrievich

Main areas of focus:

• study of main driving forces of the pandemic of socially significant infections (tuberculosis and HIV) and prediction of their further development;

• development of modern methods for epidemiological monitoring (genotyping of pathogens, mathematical modeling of epidemic and evolutionary processes);

• study of the patterns of epidemic, infectious and vaccine processes under conditions of technogenic environmental pollution;

• development of approaches to manage the incidence of infectious diseases, by identifying the most ‘vulnerable’ period of the epidemic process;

• ecological and epidemiological assessment of bacterial and viral pollution of water bodies, and the relationship between pollution and infectious morbidity of the population
